Destination Southern Tasmania today welcomed the Tasmanian Visitor Survey results, showing an tourist increase of 8% to the South.

Destination Southern Tasmania CEO Melinda Anderson has told Dave  the numbers Statewide demonstrated growing visitor dispersal.

“In the year ending June 2017, all four tourism regions reported growth – the South up 8%, the East Coast up 13%, North up 11% and Cradle Coast up 5%,

“Tasmania has 1.27 million visitors overall, up 9 per cent from 1.17 million for the previous year. We also saw 253,200 international visitors for the year, up 13% from 224,000 the previous year.

The total number of visitors holidaying in Tasmania during the year ending June 2017 was 623,300, up 13 per cent compared to the previous year (was 553,900).
