Tasmania will play host to some of the most talented underage cricketers in the country in December, with the Under 19 Male National Championships returning to the state for the first time since 2013-14.

New ground will also be broken as the tournament incorporates day-night matches into its fixture for the first time, with games to be played from 4-15 of December.

Day-night matches will take place at Launceston’s UTAS Stadium and Hobart’s Blundstone Arena, as well as a day-night Grand Final at the home of the Hobart Hurricanes, as Australia’s best young male cricketers vie for selection in Australia’s 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup squad.

Chris Garett, Cricket Tasmania Cricket Operations Manager, has told Dave  it was a terrific opportunity for the state to host an increased level of high quality pathway cricket, on top of hosting the finals of the JLT One Day Cup competition in October.

Cricket Tasmania, host clubs and ground authorities have a strong reputation hosting successful events and if playing games in both Hobart and Launceston is successful then this model could be replicated in future.
