I have just found out today the 22nd July, is Worldwide Pi Day! (Because 22/7 is approximately equal to 3.14.) On the home run this afternoon I will try and find out more for you. Over the past few days we have looked at Bellerive Oval and the future while catching with Tasmanian Tigers coach Tim Coyle about a preseason trip to Darwin. On the home run we will also closely follow the countdown to the federal election August 21.So make sure you keep listening.

Welcome to the Winter Solstice.A solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice each year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is most inclined toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun's apparent position in the sky to reach its northernmost or southernmost extreme. This means in Hobart from now until Dec 21 the days will get longer..but as the old adage goes the cold also grows stronger..at least for the next 3 months.

Thats a wrap for another week on the home run.Heading home to catch Collingwood and Carlton as the Chargers are on the road this weekend..It looks like a frosty night coming up not looking forward to rising early for the sports breakfast.Whats been happening round here? Well if you were listening today you would have heard how much meat is in the top 20 frozen pies as tested by not for profit group Choice, and you would have heard Daniel Hanna from the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania talking up the benefits of the NBN. Yesterday it was medical theme Dr Seana Gall from Menzies Research has unconvered a link between a Healthy Lifestyle and Education while Dr Warrick Bishop warned the Baby Boomers they have increased risk of heart attack and stroke. This years Workcover safety awards were launched on the show by Simon Cocker and Greg Ramsey told us all about the Australian golf Heritage festival coming to the state at the end of the month.Such a busy week and another on the way next monday from 2pm.
