Why is our position statement 'Change Your World'? Because we all have a patch on this earth that we have influence over. By the time we grow up, the challenges of life convince most of us that we can’t change the world. So we don’t see the patch right in front of us, that we can influence, and that we can change. One way that you can make a real difference is by supporting and getting involved with ultra106five.
With the help of our listeners and supporters we’re changing our world. What sort of change?
Globally:
- 81,196 Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes packed here in Tasmania over the past 10 years. A project that ultra106five is proud to partner with and support with free promotion and as a drop off point. This project has led to schools and medical clinics being built and children being saved from human trafficking.
- 6268 children’s lives changed permanently in the past 10 years through Compassion Day, a partnership with Christian radio stations across Australia and Compassion. Compassion tells us that people who have sponsored a child through Compassion Day have proved to stay sponsoring significantly longer.
- 120 families in some of the world’s poorest communities now have safe drinking water because we teamed up with the ‘Turn on the Tap’ campaign. This project is now being replicated all over Australia because of what happened in Hobart.
Locally here in Hobart:
- 500 interviews. One of the goals of radiothon last year was to introduce informative, positive, and uplifting interviews to ultra106five making more of an impact into the lives of men and women. Because of your support, in the past year Scott and Dave have produced more than 500 interviews which have not only helped us keep our listeners more informed, but have also won the station many new listeners which means we’re having a greater impact on our city.
- 520 family and parenting tips were played in the past twelve months, helping parents with the challenging task of bringing up a family.
- We kept our community connected by giving community organisation more than 4500 free community service announcements in the past twelve months.
- Apart from family, school, and friends, the media is one of the strongest influences of our values. That’s why we choose carefully every song you hear on ultra106five and more than a third of the music you hear is by Christian artists.
Together we are making a real difference to the lives of people here and overseas.
